Is having the Playstation Plus subscription a must for this? I noticed they are asking if you have one in the beta survey/signup. |

Rygaria Belsarnian wrote:hi guys dont flame me :) just want to get some facts straight..
Has CCP confirmed that theyve done a deal with Sony? (if so maybe already too late) but if so, how exclusive does Exclusive for ps3 mean... maybe theres some clause that says minimum 6months or something before they can open it wider. (i dont think they would have done a deal if it mean 100% preventing any other future platform expansion - if they did that, its bad :) but i dont know for sure.
Do we know why a deal was done with Sony? is it that a pc cant handle the gfx? (probably not) is it that a multplayer server needed to handle all the dust data was too big for ccp right now? (maybe)? is if that xbox network is too locked down to be used effectively with eve private servers (from what i read so far about 7 pages it seems so).
Can ccp finance dust on its own servers and on a pc fanbase (i like to think so) but maybe theyve done what can be done currently (to give the game some momentum while focus takes plase on main eve, until they can expand it for other platforms (but again i dont know full facts from above)
CCp if you can read this, please check what can you legaly divulge and then divulge something more for us please :)
thnks
CCP announced like over a year ago I think that it is exclusive for PS3. That is the only console/platform it is being released on. There may be some advantage for them only doing a deal with Sony, IP exclusiveness or something and or maybe Sony is helping them out in some way that is very good compared to what others may have offered (Microsoft for instance maybe was a tougher sell since they charge for access to their networks, idk), who knows. I do know one thing, unless they have a reason for telling the whole world their inside business, they are not going to tell any of us anything. |

Supposedly this is due to the keyboard/mouse combo being more accurate, faster, ... than console controllers? So what about pitting PS3 users with keyboard/mouse against PS3 users with weird controllers vs PS3 users with vanilla controllers? cause that doesn't seem to be a problem for CCP Quote:WILL CCP BE MAKING SURE THE SHARPSHOOTER/MOVE WILL BE FULLY COMPETITIVE WITH DS3 USERS?
We are dedicated to making a smooth integration for the SONY Move. But we also want to allow choices for the players. Some may prefer DS3, while others may go with Move and still others might want to use keyboard and mouse. We will be providing more details on this later on. http://dust514.org/home/item/everything-we-wanted-to-know-about-dust-514-and-weren-t-afraid-to-ask?category_id=1The PC-only decision is probably due to benefits from the partnership with Sony and due to CCP not wanting to cannibalize the EVE userbase for DUST. But the "No DUST on PC because PS3 users can't compete with PC users" argument took a wrecking hit for over 9000 damage by CCP strongly suggesting that keyboard/mouse will be supported on PS3 DUST. It's really time for this argument to die.
I didn't even know that keyboard mouse option was possible for PS3. This is cool, I just got one for X-mas, so I am psyched since the idea of trying to relearn FPS game for PS3 was a daunting one, since I have played all FPS games on PC for years now and prefer it that way.

that is all. I'm not saying it is the next Call of Duty (although you never know).
That would be unfortunate if it was like any of the CoD games. I'm hoping it is more like a serious tactical simulator, so we can have less kill rampage retards with knives running around stabbing everyone in the neck for dog tags and actual tactical realism (well as real as a sci fi FPS can get, but the none munchkin FPS gamers know what I mean). I'm thinking clan based BF 3 or Arma II, AAO style game setup vs. COD.

Omega Tron wrote:Signed up but most likely will not be selected for this beta trail.
Here my thoughts on the SONY PS3 and their network services offering. I bought my PS3 mostly for the blue ray player and as a replacement for my 3rd XBOX 360 that had developed the red ring of death -- again.
So last night I went and finally did some exploring on the SONY PS3 Networking. It seems there are two parts to it. The free to connect and access to upgrades to the OS and to the SONY store and of course lots of adveristments. Then there is the $50.00 pay to use network that has all the free trials and bonus game add-ons. So my opinion is that in order to get and test this CCP - Dust 514 beta you'll have to fork over the cost of the premium membership, which I for one will not be doing. Also, I found that there are listings for multiple levels of Aurum that can be purchased for use in the trial. So I think this will be going down the path of being a pay to win gaming plan. This again is not going to have my support either on the PS3 or in the EVE gaming.
I'm pretty sure you will have to buy most if not all your gear in Dust, that has already been discussed by the Devs in the past, so that is not really pay to win IMO.

If we've already submitted our private trials application, then subscribe to Plus, can we update our application?

Thats going to be ******** if I have to have Plus to be considered for this Beta CCP. I really hope it isn't that dumb, or another dumb CCP decision would be a better way to put it. I would have to buy Plus to play your beta? No thanks. I already see this Dust/Eve symbiotic thing being a fail cascade event shortly after it launches.
